Making Bunny Peeps for Garden Display

Colorful tulips in pots with green, purple, and blue bunny cutouts. "Happy Easter" sign above. Brick wall and window in the background.

This year, I decided to decorate my patio each month. Since I already have many wreaths for different times of the year and I have the plant pots on the patio.

I usually add greenery and holiday themed things in December for the holidays. Now I just change out the decor for the season, holiday, etc.

I gave myself a small budget of $20-$30 each month to make this happen. With of course, if I continue doing this, every year there will be a bit more things filling the pots. With of course some things lastly years and some things not making it every year.

For February and March, I found most things at the dollar store and really only need to use bamboo skewers on a few things. However for April and the Easter season, I wanted to make some over sized peeps with my family.

Supplies

Blue kneeling cushion with a handle, labeled "Knee Cushion" in English, French, and Spanish. Green and purple background with a gardening theme.

Garden knee boards from the dollar store

Bunny Peep cutout - found mine on Cricut, and cut one on paper

Sharpie or maker

X-acto or similar for cutting out Peep

Bamboo Skewers - 2ft long

Making the Bunny Peeps

Hands hold a green foam with a white paper rabbit silhouette pinned on it. Cutting mats with grid lines and a ruler are on the table.

I started with measuring the boards and getting a fairly accurate measurement of height and width. Using my Cricut and the app, I searched for a peep bunny shape, resized to fit on the board and cut one out on paper.

With my new Bunny Peep pattern pinned to the garden board and traced the bunny out with a permanent marker.

Using a good sharp X-acto knife, I then cut the bunny from the lines on the board.

Once the bunnies were all cut out, it was time to skewer the bunnies. I always grab the 2 foot long skewers for these projects, for a couple reasons,

  1. They are thicker and should last longer in the elements

I can cut them shorter to fit prefect in the arrangement

Setting up the Patio

Easter decor with green, purple, and blue bunny cutouts surrounded by pink and purple flowers in pots, and a "Happy Easter" sign.

For this particular April patio look, I decided on some faker tulip flowers I found at Micheals Craft store on sale and the peeps. This patio look does look a little sparse, however I have not done an April patio look before and I still want to stay within my budget.
