I recently visited Fabricland in Sarina, On to check out the Fabric Selection, pricing, notions, tools and overall shopping experience. I also grab 2 cuts of fabric to measure at home. To test their overall accuracy back at home.

Here is my full breakdown fabric store review of Fabricland in Sarina.

Just as a quick note, before getting started. I do not accept of money, or gifts for my review. I try my very best to not have the staff working, figure I am reviewing the store, so they will act as they would, if you were visiting them.

Store Information

Store Name: Fabricland

Location: Sarina, ON

First Impressions

Colorful fabric bolts in a cloth store, with pastel pink, yellow, green, blue, and white fabrics on display under bright lighting

Fabricland is definite a store for nearly anything fabric. The store is kept clean and tidy.

There is alot of signage hanging from the ceiling, to let you know where to go. The racks have lots of signs as well, letting you know the prices.

Its a store, where a regular customer will know where the best deals are stacked, where the good fabrics are and what section to avoid.

It's also a store where its easy to get overwhelmed with choice or a lack of planning.

I was in the second group, as I knew I needed 2 things, my 2 fabrics for measurements, and I was

looking for some others for a project. However I didn't walk in knowing, which fabrics I wanted, or what was available. Saying that, I could of started a few new projects, just on all the fabrics available.

Fabric Selection

Colorful hanging fabrics and lace swatches in white, purple, blue, and neon yellow on a shop rack.

What fabric are you looking for? chances are they have something.

There is s large selection of quilting cottons.

arranged by theme. So you could find a fun selection of almost everything. I did notice there was a lack of licensed for characters and movies, etc. However they had a wide selection on licensed NHL fabrics, with some teams having 2-3 different fabrics

There also have a huge selection of apparel fabrics, 3D overlay tulle, cuts of velvet, faux fur, chiffon, satin, wool, suiting, etc. The list could go on and on. Each fabric has at least a selection of different colours. With more popular fabrics, having more selection with pattern weight, theme, etc

Sales Sections

I went during a member sale, so anything regluar priced, was 40% off.

They even accepted by really expired membership, and gave me the discount.

Even if you don't have a membership, there are some great deals. The entire back section seems to be a endless clearance and ends wonderland. The best I found was some $3/meter deals.

I was looking for some red fabric for a cloak project, so I went to the clearance section.

Its a hunt to find the right fabric, however was a lot of fun combing thru piles of fabric rolls and bolts to find the right one.

Oh and I did find a fabric, its a polyester wool fabric, in bright red. Prefect for a Little Red Riding hood costume.

Notions, Supplies & Tools

Craft store aisle with wall displays of buttons and notions, plus shelves of colorful ribbons and trims in a bright white shop.

Going to start with a negative. Quilting rulers, are expensive here. They maybe a brand name, but there were around 50% more here then other stores. The right deal, sale or coupon, the rulers would be a great, as there was a varied selection.

As for notions, there is a quite a selction. It seems like the whole side wall was a notions, button, ribbon, faux fur trim buffet.

Staff & Cutting Table Experience

Staff was friendly, however they didnt really go out of there way to be helpful. If you asked a question, or asked for help looking for something, they would help for sure.

Which is nice, as you can just shop, look around and no one is bugging you. But someone is there when you have a question, looking for something, etc.

The had a few shoppers, so staff were busy at cutting tables, putting away fabrics and helping those who asked for help.

There was 2 cutting stations, however the one near the back of the store seem to be the main cutting station.

For cutting fabrics, they use scissors and the staff ability to cut straight. So if you are needing an exact amount of fabric, grab a bit more, just in case.

The staff did seem to cut fairly straight. My only negative is the store needs to ether invest in better scissors or get the currect ones sharpened. The staff had to change scissors a coupe times to find a pair that would work.

Cut Accuracy Test

Pink patterned fabric on a green cutting mat with a measuring tape, showing a sewing project in progress.

I really loved this fabric - so got a metre cut the fabric. Since I feel like making something with it.

I also grab a 6" strip of these other fabric, as smaller cuts are harder to get accurate.

6- Inch Cut

Requested: 6 inches

Actual measurement: around 8"

Meter Cut

Requested 39. 37 inches

Actual Measurement: 41.5 "

Overall Rating

Fabric Selection - 5/5

Pricing - 4/5

Store Experience - 5/5

Cut Accuracy - 5/5

Final Rating: 4/5 Bobbins

Overall, Fabricland is a great option for almost every type of Sewist. The is a great spot for regular costumers, who know what they need, and now what they offer. Its also great for tourist shopprs like myself, who want to take a look, maybe get a piece of fabric, if the deals right on the right fabric.

I am only taking away a point in pricing for things like the rulers. Its really hard to overlook a basic sewing supply that you can get almost everywhere else for cheaper. I understand they have there profit margins, and maybe in that area, that prices does really well for them.

I also posted a 2 video review of this visit over on my TikTok where you can see the store and some more details in action

As Always,

Happy Sewing
